This Philly Italian Sunday dinner food tour is based on Sunday Italian traditions. Lucky for us, this tour is available Tuesday through Sunday. Below is an idea of what we will be doing on this food tour.
Every Sunday, Grandmom (Nonna) or another family member (who was a good cook) would host family dinner. And, like every good Italian, you never showed up empty handed.
Tasting and shopping for foods to bring to Nonna’s house was always fun. Cheeses, prosciutto, olives and cannoli were always tops in our book.
Images of spaghetti and meatballs made our mouths water all morning long. Finally, we would sit down for dinner and catch up on what happened during the week and share some funny stories about the family and the past.
After dinner, we would all take a passeggiata (stroll) through the market. Eventually we would sit down for dessert and the adults would have coffee.
Our first stop is all about the cheese!
Antipasto samples include Italian favorites like olives, salumi and cheeses.
You're oil I need!
Sniff, swirl and sip extra virgin olive oils, premium balsamic vinegars, salts and honey at this interactive tasting room.
On top of spaghetti, is the best meatball!
We meet the family and then sit down to taste the best meatball in town!
It's gravy not sauce!
Pull up a chair and eat with us at our South Philly Italian Family Dinner table. Spaghetti and a glass of wine are on the menu.
There is always room for a little dessert!
We stop at a local Italian café for a dessert sampling. Samples can include cannoli, biscotti, gelato or sfogliatella and a little coffee to finish off this fun family food tour.

Jeanmarie"Jacquie's tour was fun, tasty and informative. She conveys a wealth of knowledge with good humor, she knows the merchants and their stories. We appreciated the the care with which she managed the tour during these COVID times; everything was individually sealed, hand sanitizer was available."
